The iPad revolutionized the computer market in just a year.  Since then we have been introduced to the “year of the tablet” but Apple certainly got that ball rolling with the original iPad.  Today, Apple has finally unveiled the iPad 2, “magically” improving on the original!

What’s different with the iPad 2?  There are several differences so let’s take a look.

It has 2 cameras

Yes, the iPad 2 has two cameras, a front facing camera and a rear facing camera.  Why the original wasn’t so equipped, we’ll never know.

It’s faster

The new iPad 2 is equipped with much more speed:

  • New A5 chip
  • Dual-core processors
  • Up to 2X faster CPU
  • Up to 9x faster graphics

Now the iPad can compete with many of the other tablets hitting the market.

It’s slimmer and lighter

Steve was excited that even though there were these improvements built in, they were still able to make the iPad 2 slimmer and lighter.  In fact, it’s slimmer than the iPhone!  The battery life is supposed to stay the same as well.

It comes in white, too

Apple fans have had to wait for white iPhones in the past.  This time ol’ Stevie promises white and black models to be shipped on day one!

It works on several cell networks

OK, that may sound deceiving.  There will be versions for several cell networks, AT&T and Verizon.  On top of that, there will be a WiFi only version, too.

The iPad 2 is definitely a marked improvement over the original.  Will the original iPad’s come down in price?  Rumor has it that they are pulling them off the shelves and offering the iPad 2 for the same price.  iPad 2, awesome improvements at the same price?  Cool.
